Antique Headboard to Bench

I bought this antique headboard at an auction last year because I loved the curved foot board. After a little consideration I decided it would look amazing converted into a bench. My husband is very handy and he made my vision come to life. I love this repurpose and think it will be an amazing addition to any room.
After
Before, kind of. This is after the foot board was cut in half and attached to the headboard. We used one of the side rails for the front piece. Supports were attached all the way around and in the front corners for the plywood seat.
I used a sheet of luan, 2" foam, and fabric to upholster the bench seat.
The color is Antique White from General Finishes. After painting and distressing it pretty heavily i decide to dark wax it to bring out the amazing texture of the original finish. It looks time worn and is very becoming on this piece. You can find a few more pics on my blog in the link below.
