Bonnie witlam on May 04, 2015If the potato has a Ready sprouted, just cut the potato into chunks around the sprout. Plant about an inch deep in potting soil. If the basket has large weave line it with a trash bag, make sure u put holes in the bottom of the bag for drainageHelpful Reply

OhSally on Jun 25, 2015Cut a potato so you have one or two eyes in each section (seed potatoes are best because sometimes "eating" potatoes have been treated so they don't sprout). Let the potatoes sit out an hour or two so the cut area dries a bit. Put some soil in the bottom of the basket, lay the potato sections on the soil, cover the potatoes with soil and let 'em grow! Just put enough soil to cover the potatoes. THEN, when the plants pop up through the soil, add more soil to cover them. Each time the plants grow, add more soil until the basket is full. Then, let the plants grow...when the plants die back, the potatoes are ready to harvest. Just pour the basket out (I use a tarp) and pick up the potatoes.Helpful Reply
