Wanda.ll on May 07, 2015You may have to get dampers put on each duct so air is redirected. Call and complain too who ever installed. They didn't know what they were doing sounds like. Don't stop till they fix it without charging you extra.Helpful Reply

Edwin Meendering on May 07, 2015you may also have to make sure that the cold air return vents are not covered up or blocked so that the air in the room can circulate.Helpful Reply

VermeerHouse on May 07, 2015Do what Wanda suggested......You may not have insulation in the walls....For the summer heat you can plant deciduous trees to shade that corner....I also like to use shade cloth on the windows as screens....Helpful Reply

Cindy Richmond on May 08, 2015I agree with Wanda. The company that installed your A/C unit needs to balance the air coming out of the ducts in that part of the house. Not every company knows how to do this by the way!! The company that did ours had a large box-like structure that they put over each vent to measure air pressure (I believe) then they went into attic to readjust dampers so that pressure was correct for each room. Each room should be approximately the same temperature give or take a degree plus or minus. A good heating /cooling business should include that service with a new air unit. If you need to talk to someone knowledgeable about the process I can give you the phone number of the company we used. I'll bookmark this page and check back to see if you want it.Helpful Reply

KELLY TAYLOR on May 08, 2015check to see if you have insulation in those walls. In my house in Florida we found, WAY after the fact, that it had NO insulation in the SE portion of the house. You can have companies 'spray' insulation into the walls of his bedroom to help insulate. Also check the attic above his room.Helpful Reply

D & K on May 08, 2015The problem you're having is not uncommon. As @Wanda.ll mentioned the registers can be dampered or adjusted to redirect air flow. But in some cases dampering the duct work causes reduced flow overall and can put a strain on the system. In other cases it's simpler to have a return air duct and grill installed in that room. Air is like water in the sense that it will travel the path of least resistance. So naturally the rooms closer to the return air vent will get the most air flow and the most heating and cooling. The process of adding a secondary return is actually fairly easy but regardless, this should be at the expense of the HVAC contractor. If they didn't foresee the issue, well, they're supposed to be the experts!Helpful Reply
