Transplanting young cherry trees

I purchased several young weeping cherry trees, (about a foot tall). I am in NJ and they came from a nursery in Tenn. I think they are too young to transplant into the yard. I feel like I should baby them. Should I just transplant into a bigger pot, but then how to store over the winter? Any advice how to winter them? Am I on the right track? Thanks for any input.

You so far are on the right track. I am no plant/tree expert, but, for storing them in the winter, I'd just bring them into your house.

Thanks, I did repot them and will bring inside before winter hits. I do have an enclosed porch that would also protect them.
