Here is a repellent made for cats: http://www.critter-repellent.com/domestic-cat#buynow1 You could also get a motion-activated sprinker that would spray water when the cats come in your yard. Just remember to turn it off when you go out!

If you do not have pets, might try placing strips of carpet tack strips where the cats frequently potty or travel. Pointy sides up. It is painful to walk on and may help redirect them from your yard areas.

I would suggest you talk to your neighbor and ask if he would be willing to put out and maintain an outside litter box. The cats will go where it is easiest. If he is willing to feed them, he should be willing to help the cats not be a nuisance to your space. Sometimes a few adjustments, like maybe relocating some of the items under your porch in the long run would decrease stress for you. The cats didn't ask to be brought into this world they way they were and are just trying to survive -- irresponsible pet owner's actually caused the problem no doubt. Have the cats been fixed? This problem is actually an opportunity for a neighborhood project to stabilize the population size through TNR. Good luck and I'm sorry you were invaded. Last note...cats don't like to walk on aluminum foil either, but it doesn't injure them.

You may have to call city officials- that many cats is probably against the health ordinances.

It does sound like your neighbor is a cat hoarder. Please call animal control. They probably aren't getting adequate care.

If they are feral cats, there are humane organizations which will live-trap them, neuter and either release or adopt them. PLEASE contact them!!!!!

If feeding the cats makes your neighbor happy & you just want to keep them away from your yard, try a concentrated citrus spray (sseveral companies sell them as air fresheners). Spray all around the area especially on hard surfaces. Cats despise all citrus! !

Just bath them with dawn dishwashing soap then bath them with a good skin conditioning shampoo for cats to recondition their fur and skin.

There are many animal repellents available at Walmart garden centers, Lowe's, Home Depot, and most farm and garden centers. We use several different brands to keep deer and wild animals out of our garden. We use a specific brand for cats and dogs to keep them out of our flower beds. We have 3 dogs and 3 cats so we know these products work. The ingredients are mainly black pepper that will irritate the nose but not harm the animal. The cats avoid the treated area immediately. My dogs took two days before they stopped going near the flowers. Spray the cats with a powerful soaker type of squirt gun to discourage them from your yard each time you see them in your yard. They will learn not to enter after a few times. Totally harmless. One of our cats loves to get squirted so that method is not 100% effective.

@Wanda sinnema Thank you for your suggestion Wanda. Unfortunately I am allergic to cayenne pepper. I used it in a bird feed to keep squirrels out of the feeder but had to stop when I developed rashes and blisters on my skin.

I put chicken wire under my bark and in pots where they and squirrels like to go poop. It works pretty good because they can't dig into it.

Cats and dogs don't like the smell of moth balls. You will have to replace them as they melt away with rain and watering, but they don't hurt them, just keep them away.

Please don't put moth balls on the ground. It is poison to other beneficial animals and insects. Place them in coffee cans or other cans around the yard if you must. Yes they will have to be replaced often. Most animals hate the smell of rotten eggs. Try making a home brew of a few eggs left out in the sun for a couple of days, mix them up really good in some water and put in a spray bottle to the area.

There is a motion detector sprinkler that is quite effective without harming the animals and you get your peace of mind

To keep cats out of garden beds, sprinkle them with egg shells and citrus rinds. Sure works for me.

I have used CAYENNE PEPPER,, It doesn't hurt them ..sprinkle it around where ever they visit Repeat after it rains or if you water..... . I buy it at the local bulk foods dept. I use the HOTTTTTTEST one I can get put it in a empty large spice bottle.. be sure to wear rubber gloves.... They walk on it, lick their paws,, ITS CHEAP,,,, works for dogs, where they mark their territory.. they sniff the area and get a nose full..repeat as needed.... so much cheaper than the commercial which have cayenne pepper in it...
