Has anyone decorated that dead corner in back of sectional w/ mirror?

I need feedback preferably with pictures of how having a tall mirror in that dead corner space behind my sectional couch would look. I want to put some light and life to that corner and I thought a tall decorative mirror might do the trick! Here's a glimpse of that dead dreary corner ...
This dead corner behind my sectional needs some life to it. How would a tall decorative mirror look? I certainly don't want to clutter and overwhelm the space. HELP!

I have seen an uplight floor lamp (halogen), a custom wedge table with a table lamp, vertical plants (tree-like) and a ladder used as a magazine rack , so I guess the mirror could work...but what would you be reflecting? If the view isn't great I wouldn't do it.

Thanks for your feedback! I had a floor lamp there before but eventually got bored with it. If I decide to put a mirror there, it would be reflecting my family room and some sunlight from the windows on the sides of my fireplace.

I wouldn't put anything, less is more but if you really want something there a long arm light fixture would look good.Hope that helps.

Perhaps try a plant on a tall stand or hanging with mirrors on both walls. the reflected plant will add depth to the room and reflect light.

Triangle sofa table with nice tall lamp

I like the previous suggestions but if you want to try a different look, perhaps family photos. The small framed photos appear too small. I would arrange black and white family photos in various sizes.

@Ellen, I think I like the idea of taking down the cherub cross stitch art as well as the wall sconces in other side and place a large mirror on the big wall where cherub was with 2 large BW pics on each side of the mirror, leaving perhaps the smaller wall (next to sliding door) clean.

Circular mirror on small wall near window and a few, 3 to 4 same size prints on larger wall. Certainly some complimentary color with pillows on the sofa would make for a happier corner

Thanks Denise! I had seen these photos on Pinterest and I probably got the idea from these but I don't think it would work because they are in open spaces.

I would pull the sectional away from the wall a little and put a tree like plant there even a fake tree I think would look great.

Funny story....when we were small, my mom had a sofa and she kept it pulled away from the wall just enough so if we got unexpected company--like the aunt that had no children and messes in her house---my mom would have us throw our toys behind the sofa and retrieve them after the company left.

Lol...thank goodness, my kids are big now that I don't have toys all over the place anymore. Nonetheless, my daughter who is 12 and has Down syndrome and in the autism spectrum is very neat and quite compulsive as to where things should be so she's the one who puts things where they belong when they are rarely out of place haha

I don't have a sectional but do have two couches which leaves a largish 3' x 3' space in the corner. I put a square table there with a seasonal table covering and tree branches in a tall urn. I decorate the branches a couple times a year. For your much smaller space a tall vase with branches would add visual interest and draw the eye upwards. Here's my corner decorated for autumn.

Have you ever considered one of those corner shelves that have four shelves (I think or maybe 3) that you could paint to match your decor and place some books, a small mirror and small plant (plant to add life, mirror to reflect light and books to add weight)? Remove the two small pictures you have as these would look too cluttered. Maybe you could add them next to the larger picture as a grouping. Also you could paint the air conditioner grating the wall color to help it disappear. Just another idea...

I like the idea of painting the vent grating same as wall color to help conceal it. Thank you!

Love the sectional for the corner....if it were me and I had something cool to reflect, like it sounds like you do, I'd do two same, elongated framed mirrors, long and narrow 14 to 18 inch wide?? for the corner walls. Mounting them about 6 inches out from the corner. Perhaps move the sectional out from tight against the walls.. I put wooden blocks behind mine to give it the look of floating and not so stiff, and then you could fit a cool floor lamp behind OR even a ceiling mount light fixture there if possible.(my choice) But to me the mirrors would really pick up the pace and be a feature. Also the two small pictures on sconces would need to go elsewhere.....maybe one above the other on a long narrow piece of wall. I'd also paint the wall vent the same color as the wall so it blends in.

@Carole, I like your idea of placing two identical skinny and long mirrors (facing each other at 90 degrees???) with a floor lamp in that corner. However, I am leaning now more on taking down the cherub cross stitch art and put a gallery with a PB style mirror on that wall with 2 frames with BW pics on each side of mirror. If I put more mirrors in the cornwe wall, it might be too redundant and cluttered. I will def take down the wall sconces and might just have to leave that wall clear...

I'd pull the sectional out a bit more from the wall. Then I'd get a tall artificial tree and place that behind it to soften the edges of the corner.

I like the idea of placing a small table in the corner. You can place a tall plant on it to draw the eye up but your pictures and cross stitch already does that. Personally I'm thinking to put a table there to catch anything accidentally tossed or fallen in the corner! Adding some bright pops of color at sofa level would be nice too.

Here's an update on my dead corner slowly coming to life, I hope! A work in progress! Taking in some of the suggestions and comments, these are some of the changes I have made, using decorative materials I already have in the house, like the mirrors which I decided to group together since the middle one alone seems too small for the wall, a black urn with flowers (I need to work on updating the arrangement), and pop of colors at the couch level using bright colored pillows. I need to raise the planter at the back of the couch in order to give the urn a little more height and I'm still deciding on what to do with the other wall with sconces and pictures. Thanks all for the helpful comments and suggestions!

Hi, Something very tall to soften the corner. A faux or live tree with an up light, for mood at night. Lower your mirrors a little.

@Ruth Agree with the mirrors being too high.. Many people tend to float artwork way too high on the wall. Artwork should be integrated as a total part of the scene of the room. Placing it too high makes it look detached.
