Painted wood???

I have a wooden mantle but was wondering if there is a technique for painting it to look like marbled or other stone look???

    Yes, you can do a faux stone with a stencil. They make a "rock" stencil that works very well. I used this method often when I had my interior design business. There is a technique of laying paint to look like individual stone or "rocks". Check You tube. I'll bet there is a video for this! Good luck. There is definitely a technique for marbling with paint. I have done that many times too.

    You should be able to purchase a kit from Home Depot or Lowe's, maybe even Ace. Especially if you have never done it, that way you have all the supplies you may need.
