Any ideas for painting an old door?

Debi Cotten on May 18, 2015Beautiful old door ! Do you want to make it into something useful, or just decorative ? You could put them together as a "V" shape and add shelves. You could put them side by side and add a few coat hooks with bench in front of them. Painting would be up to you, depending on your skills and colors of the room. I would at least paint them 2 tone, one color in the center panes and a different color around the edges, maybe a 3rd color for the trim around the panels. You could always add a pretty stencil design as an accent. Have fun and let us see what you come up with !Helpful Reply

Laurel on May 18, 2015I wouldn't paint them. I'd wash them with Murphy's Oil Soap to get any residue off of them and then give them a paste waxing. I would put a primitive wreath on it in an off white color. I like the previous idea also.Helpful Reply

Marley Stec on May 18, 2015I love those doors (my green balloon just went up lol). Let's see the entrance way, for context. I like Lauren's idea, clean, wax and depending, varnish or not, but seeing where they will be hung would be helpful.Helpful Reply
