Aging a cheap brass sink faucet?

I am getting ready to start a little master bath refresh... lots of paint, no major changes... just get it to where I don't cringe every time I walk in the room. One of the things I would love to do is replace the old brass fixtures that are on both sinks... but that's not an option. Have any of the DIY experts had success or heard of ways to take the shine off the brass fixtures and make them look a little tarnished or aged... a little less shiny!
