Hope Williams on May 22, 2015Google the color wheel. Using wall color, look direct opposite of that. Using colors on the opposite side of the color wheel are called complimentary colors. Those are the ones that work best with your main color. Get sample cards and take them home. Choose the one that will hold its true color in your room. Lighting, sunlight, etc. can make it look different in the room. So choose from there. Good luck.Helpful Reply

Country Design Home on May 22, 2015The possibilities are limitless depending on how you want the room to feel. The brown is your neutral so you are working with your smoky blue. The complementary color family for that is the orange/red family. You might try going to your local fabric store and finding a fabric that you love with your colors-many times that is how I make a decision about accent colors!Helpful Reply

Cmc1422362 on May 22, 2015I agree with the white suggestion. It will add a crispness to things. You can still add another color as a small splash of color and change it seasonally, I.e. green in spring, fuchsia in summer, salmon in autumn, grey in winter, for example.Helpful Reply

Suzanne Melton on May 23, 2015Hope Williams has it exactly right! And, when you think you have found your "best" second color (orange, for example), Google [blue and orange rooms]. You'll get an assortment of blues (light, dark, turquoise) and oranges (dark, peach, shrimp) but look around at different combinations until one speaks to you and your existing furnishings.Helpful Reply
