I just renovated my kitchen after gutting the original 1979 space and made it completely fit me. With all new Ikea cabinets and a few special features, it's a fun space to cook in and I absolutely love it. Here's the post with all the details and cost breakdown:

Karen on Jul 21, 2015Beautifully done. I love that you didn't go overboard on stainless, but there is enough that it blends in easily. Your island is stunning, a true statement piece, and I your idea for open storage of platters and cutting board is perfect. I have a cupboard for them in my kitchen, and I HATE all the space they take up.
