New LaZBoy all leather recliner

I've only had this recliner about two weeks. It's a LaZboy from a local furniture company. The leather really smells bad... leather-smelling but very pungent. Anybody know how to get the odor out without affecting the leather itself? I have the same-type problem with new Contac shower mats (rubber or plastic). I spray them with vinegar every day, but it hasn't made a big improvement yet.

I had this problem too with new leather suite and the smell was awful but it did disappear after about two weeks. Think it might be caused by furniture being wrapped in plastic whilst in storage but soon dissipates when open to air. Had my Windows open when possible those two weeks!

Do not have the answer to the odor in the leather, but if it continues to be pretty bad you may think about contacting the furniture store you purchased it from and tell them about it...this could be a chemical that is causing this. You are breathing this in every day & you should find out what you can.... I would do this definitely. Good Luck!

Definately contact the store where you made your purchase. Do not wait. They will schedule a service visit to determine if there is a problem with the leather. Without saying it in a more disturbing manner, remember that your leather furniture used to be a cow. If the curing process was not done correctly...you can use your imagination to realize what you are smelling. As with any new purchase, return/exchange time clock is ticking.
