Walter Reeves on Oct 09, 2011The key is how you attach the lumber to the tree. You don't want to hurt the tree or to create liability if the treehouse should fall or come apart. Dr Kim Coder at UGA wrote a good guide at http://www.walterreeves.com/how-to-archive/treehouse-building/Helpful Reply

SawHorse Design Build on Oct 09, 2011I am going to build the structure near the tree and have the porch wrap around the tree. I will make sure the footings are clear of the structural root plate and are positioned in between roots. I will take a look at the article-thanks Walter!Helpful Reply

Laura M Brizes on Aug 12, 2012There was a great article in Southern Living about treehouses written this past year. They had referenced a gentleman or two who sold sketches to treehouses. Might be worth looking into.Helpful Reply

SawHorse Design Build on Aug 13, 2012Thanks for the reference. I have been looking at other structures for inspiration as well as balancing what materials that I have access to. Right now I am trying to incorporate some Marvin windows that I found into the wall sections.Helpful Reply
