Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Jan 20, 2013I would 2nd what SLS said, Just be sure your existing patio is not suffering from cracks or any damage due to settlement. As your new top will only be as good as what it is placed upon. It may look good for a short while, long enough for the check to clear, but once a little bit of time goes on, what ever you covered will show right back again. lastly be sure you check on what ever company you look at to do this stamping work. Its not the cheapest thing in the world and can look pretty bad if done wrong.Helpful Reply

Shari on Jan 21, 2013Thank you @SLS Construction Solutions and @Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com for taking the time to provide this info. @Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com the (covered) concrete porch of our current house does have some cracks so perhaps, taking that and the expense of this technique into consideration, we might be better off to look at other options. We actually put tile down on the covered front porch of our previous home and it not only looked beautiful but it held up really well too. Maybe I would be better off to consider using the tiles that look like wood. Something to think about... Nevertheless, if anyone can personally recommend someone in the Tampa area that does stamped concrete, I wouldn't mind getting an estimate, or two. Thanks all!Helpful Reply

Suffolk Concrete & Masonry on Jan 21, 2013i would suggest trying to install a 4 inch slab whether it be on top of the existing slab or having the existing slab removed. slab should also be reinforced with wire & fibermesh & make sure proper expansion joints are cut in slab & along the house.Helpful Reply

Concrete Creations on Jan 23, 2013Stamping it to look like wood would be pretty costly, since even just the materials for the overlay are pretty expensive.Helpful Reply

Stacey Beck on Jun 23, 2014I have never seen this before. I really like it though. I think it really modernizes the appearance. I would totally get it done. http://www.millercrete.comHelpful Reply

Tina Buell on Nov 23, 2015I just got this done and I hate it because i added a broom finish border since I didn't know how to arrange the stamp around extruding pipes for gas and plumbing. My advice is go with no border. The wood stamp is so cool, that a border around it, just takes away from how sophisticated it looks.Helpful Reply
