How do you paint laminate counter tops to look like granite?

I'm looking for a way to update laminate counter tops and cannot afford granite or any other type of stone, want to see if it is easy to paint.

Lowe's and I'm sure other home improvement stores have a kit that you can use to transform your countertops. I will be using one at my daughters house to update my her countertops shortly.

I don't like painting them as they chip from what I have heard. I am redoing a kitchen and with a new furnace and air can't do stone. I was amazed at how nice laminate is these days and very affordable.
