but need to fix this! want to get rid if it. It used to be a sink I think! I hate it!
I need help!~! any ideas put on what to replace this with?

Exactly right Terry, I used to install these with my father when he was doing Formica work back then. Why not install a new cutting top into that space. Custom build your own butcher block and cut the bottom so it sits into the opening. As if your planning to paint the Laminate top you will need to protect it from damage anyway.

Thanks to all for the suggestions!! I hate that cutting board hard to keep clean and ugly!! wish I could afford to replace it all with new. All of you were a great help!!
