      toward the middle you use plants that need more moisture, as you go out you use plants that can tolerate drier spells. I'm using what already grows. Plants that attract butterflies and hummingbirds work great.

    I have a large prairie rain garden - in clay soil. I just found native plants that can tolerate it: eupatorium, lobelia, queen of the prairie, native goastbeard. I had many plant failures, the bunnies had many delicious salads, but it is in good shape now
