Lokie on Jun 05, 2015How about a nice fountain or birdbath with some potted plants around. Or even a small firepit to roast marshmallows with a couple of chairs by it. :)Helpful Reply

Sarah M on Jun 05, 2015You could put some kind of garden and lawn fabric down and pour sand in the area so you will think you are at the beach. Sand would get warm on the feet, so don't forgot those flip flops!...you could also cover the area in pebbles, or you could go with turf grass and stepping stones. You could also cover the area with brick and potted plants.Helpful Reply

Marion Nesbitt on Jun 06, 2015Impatiens usually don't like too much sun unless you get the special variety of them. I would try a more sun loving flower.Helpful Reply

Linda B on Jun 06, 2015A mix of ornamental grasses - tall ones at the back -- with black-eyed susans or purple coneflower toward the front would work great. Remember that hostas, suggested by someone else, are going to be damaged by that much sun; they need at least a little shade, except for the very, very light colored variegated ones. (The lighter the leaves in a variegated plant, the less chlorophyll they contain, and therefore the more sunlight they can tolerate.) That could be a really beautiful little corner!Helpful Reply

Diane Boynton on Jun 06, 2015It is a sunny area - so no impatiens and no hostas! They like shade. I would definitely plant a vine to cover the fence and give you privacy and more green, Clematis, passion flower, jasmine... Plant flowers that like full sun...so many choices at the nurseries - check the labels. Double dig the planting bed and add soil amendment.Helpful Reply

Repurpose Diva on Jun 09, 2015A totally different idea: ever think of making it your own beach? Sand, fire pit etc. You could add succulents, lanterns and already have the chair. I agree on covering the back fence for privacy.Helpful Reply
