Vinyl flooring, any idea where I can find a very nice contemporary style?
I would like vinyl flooring because I like these aspects of it:
1. I can scrub it using hot water and liquid soap without damaging it.
2. It's impermeable3. It's softer than stone4. It's not cold5. It does not have edges, connections or ridges where dirt can get caught like grouted or adhesive tiles or wood planks.
Thanks

Douglas Hunt on Jan 23, 2013I've always been a fan of Forbo's Marmoleum, which is the real deal linoleum. It comes in some great colors: http://www.forboflooringna.com/Commercial-Flooring/Products/Marmoleum/MCS-sheet/ You might also consider Armstrong's Abode line: http://www.armstrong.com/commflooringna/products/abode/_/N-1z141txHelpful Reply

Jeanette S on Jan 23, 2013I haven't had vinyl in years and quite frankly, I remember loving it. Tile was so popular for so long, but it soon has a walk pattern where the areas of traffic are. And I never felt it was very clean! Wood is a long standing flooring, but it does not get scrubbed like it did in the long ago past. With all those deadly germs around, I think I would like to have vinyl back...and I will stick with Formica (laminate) counter tops instead of porous ones. I am not in the market for a vinyl floor, but I will check out this web site Douglas.Helpful Reply

Becky P on Jan 23, 2013at my other house, I had such a beautiful vinyl floor. It looked just like ceramic tile without the cold. Can't say I want tile in the kitchen because I am a dropper of all things! Corelle is breakable, regardless of what they say. lolHelpful Reply

Shari on Jan 23, 2013Good luck with this one. Three years ago I went looking for sheet vinyl because I wanted to put it in the laundry room and bathrooms of a house we had just purchased. Personally, I detest cold, hard tile and grout maintenance so I've always been a huge fan of vinyl for the very reasons you stated. However, I found that many stores don't carry it anymore and if they do, the pattern choices are extremely limited. I was repeatedly told it's just not popular with homeowners anymore. Armstrong and Congolum have lots of choices on their websites but I just wasn't comfortable ordering something like that sight-unseen. I wanted to be able to see the colors in person, feel the weight of the vinyl, and see how the samples looked in my home. I finally did settle on a sheet vinyl for my laundry room but I'm not really happy with it. I don't love the pattern, it seems thin, and tears quite easily. I won't even bother looking up the brand for you because I wouldn't recommend it. (I do know it's not Armstrong.) In one bathroom, I used the Trafficmaster "Allure" vinyl wood-look planks in Mahogany (purchased from Home Depot) and I actually really love it. I love it as much (if not more) than the old sheet vinyl I had in my previous home. When my "ship comes In," I'd like to replace the laundry room sheet vinyl with the Allure.Helpful Reply

Jeanette S on Jan 24, 2013One more comment on vinyl...so many of the floors being put in kitchens and bathrooms are poreus and do not clean well...oh, they may look clean, when they are NOT clean. This scares me. I want to use bleach or vinigar on my floors and counters to get rid of germs and unsafe droppings. Vinyl is the safest you can get! Even above tile because grout is poreus! Good luck. I am going to look at Armstrong on line.Helpful Reply
