Turn a Can into a Sweet Vase with a Simple Hand Knit Cozy

This is a great recycling project with cute results. Recycled cans and t-shirts cut into strips to make yarn are the basic ingredients. Recycled t-shirt yarn can also be bought at craft stores if you don't want to make your own. They are knit using size US 15 needles, so they knit up fast.
Because they stretch, these can cozies will fit most can sizes from a 10.75 oz. soup can to a 28 oz. crushed tomatoes can.
Supplies needed to make two cozies: 55 yards of t-shirt yarn, a size US 15 circular knitting needle, a stitch marker, measuring tape and scissors.
The cozies are knit in the round, so they do not require any seaming. There are two different styles of cozy patterns. One is in stockinette and one is in a rib knit.
Get the free patterns from At Home on the Bay.

Lyn Therese on Jul 04, 2015Jane R......you can crochet them also. Just crochet your piece into a rectangle and cinche the bottom. Measure the diameter of the container first. I've done this many times and it works great.
