Sometimes you need a little something pretty for your kitchen or dining area. I've been creating tea cup chandeliers for a number of years now for client's homes, coffee shops and tea rooms worldwide.
I'm showing you some of my ideas for you to create your own. There are more instructions and idea on my blog at eBay, so follow the link below for more details.
Decide where your chandelier is going to be hung and think of creating something that will be in scale for the area. Then look for a vintage chandelier that has arms for your cups and saucers to be displayed.
When you've found your chandelier it should be cleaned and then primed and painted. Be sure to check the wiring first for safety and if anything needs to be rewired and you aren't completely comfortable with that, take it to a qualified lighting shop to rewire for you. Generally speaking this is not very expensive to have done and safety is a must!
Next you'll want to prime and paint the chandelier. I use a spray paint that serves as both.
For your tea cups you will need to drill a hole in each and if using saucers the holes should match up. If a center pot is going to be used this is a bit more difficult as you need to reconfigure the central post in the chandelier and rewire the center.
The last step would be adding crystals and other embellishments. This custom piece was designed with hanging cups that are not permanent and simply tied on with silk ribbon. That allows them to be cleaned in the future.
