Cardinal99 on Jun 10, 2015We had a 70's kitchen with harvest gold appliances and yellow laminate countertops. The cabinets were melamine but in good condition. Linoleum was replaced with tile. We used Home Depot to refinish the cabinets (they replace doors and drawer faces and boxes and leave the interior). We put in a new laminate counter and backsplash with a granite look alike- all for about $7000. All the work was done in 2 days. If concrete floor is in good condition under the linoleum you might consider staining it. We also looked at Granite Transformations which put a granite shell over your existing countertops and backsplash. Hope this helps.Helpful Reply

Staging Designs by Deborah LLC on Jun 11, 2015could try painting counter tops after filling in chips. There is a product available on line called Giani. This will give you a faux granite. Also there is a product out of Quebec called Smart Tiles. It is a peel and stick tile that gives you the look of glass mosaic tiles. Easy to install. A variety of products.Helpful Reply

Kate on Jun 11, 2015Renee-- You might want to try your local Habitat for Humanity ReStore. Builders often donate excess, unused materials. Plus, there are good, used cabinet doors as well, donated by people remodeling their kitchens. Also, try Craigslist. Search "cabinet doors" (with the quotes) under the materials category. You might also look into local non-profits that specialize in helping people that have gone through drug addiction or alcoholism rehab to get back on their feet by developing a marketable trade. They sometimes maintain warehouses of product (including commercially made, donated overstock material as well as items made by the program participants) that are open to the public. Good luck!Helpful Reply
