Does anyone know if a chocolate silk tree will live in zone 5?

Tonia on Jun 10, 2015I believe that zone 5 is a little to cold for this tree. I do have a friend that has a tree that shouldn't grow well in this zone and every winter they wrap theirs and cover with a cardboard box and tape it up. It has survived but they go to a lot of work to keep it alive.Helpful Reply

Marla on Jun 11, 2015I planted a whole row of mimosa trees when my kids were little - the trees grow very fast and make great umbrella shade. Years later, we were mowing off saplings all over the yard, the center trunk in each tree breaks or rots and dozens of "sucker" shoots emerge. They are a mess and almost impossible to get rid of. Zone 5 (Southern Illinois)Helpful Reply
