Teri Broberg on Jun 14, 2015I have never tried it, but calcium carbonate powder is popular, and doesn't have the nasty particles that can get in your lungs that are in plaster of paris or grout when you sand.Helpful Reply

Tracey on Jun 15, 2015This is the greatest chalk paint recipe I have ever found. I got it from a blogger who has a wonderful booth in Virginia somewhere and a wonderful blog as well. The recipe is as follows: 3/4 c. Calcium Carbonate mixed with enough water to make it smooth. Add to 3 c. latex paint. Mix well. I learned the HARD way to use the NOW brand of CC and I order it from Amazon.com. I just made a batch last night. It's not my first and won't be my last! Good luck!! Oh, and her blog is Confessions of a Serial DIYer.Helpful Reply
