I used Rustoleum paint for my laminate countertop. I sanded the laminate first then rolled the paint on. Two coats were used to cover it completely. I am thinking about putting a sealer on top to protect it better. Was super easy to do and dried quickly. Cheapest method I found.
Yes, you definitely need a primer before doing anything to the countertops. Good Luck!
