Carpenter bees

I just discovered carpenter bees going to work on our porch. Everything I had read is chemical related on how to get rid of them. Does anyone know any safe and natural ways to get rid of these bees?

With honey bees dying all over the world, these mason bees pollinate huge numbers of plants and could be the saviours or our food supply. They are harmless and will be gone before summer arrives. They should be encouraged by building houses for them..coffee cans filled with fat drinking straws..for them to "hibernate" in.

Please do not kill these valuable Mason bees. Look these bees up online and see what excellent pollinators they are. It seems as though many of you do not know exactly what the Mason bee is. They are not at all like honey bees or wasps. They look like house flies and can not sting. We need these "bees" particularly with the huge die-off happening with honey bees.

No matter what you call them they are able to destroy your wooden objects....fence, door, etc. We have about 6 fence posts that they bored into and the sawdust just gathers where they bore. Yes, they are destructive. Perhaps they are good pollinators but my fence needs its posts.

My apologies...in British Columbia, the carpenter bees are an important pollinator and complete.y benign...obviously a completely different species.
