I need to know an easy way to line a basket with fabric
-
DJ on Jun 19, 2015I would lay the fabric down and make a circle large enough to come over the sides of the top of the basket about 1/8th in. Then place the fabric inside of the basket pulling it around just over the top sides of the basket. Next get some White satin ribbon and glue it around to cover the edges of the fabric (you may need to trim some off) and tie a beautiful bow. Mine turned out great for my daughters wedding. Good Luck!Helpful Reply

Marge on Jun 19, 2015Are you making the basket out of fabric? Or just lining a wicker basket? DJ's idea sounds like all you would need. You could also not pull the fabric over the edges but attach fabric with glue right below edge on the inside of the basket.Helpful Reply

Mehartgallery on Jun 19, 2015Measure all around the basket... for example: 14 inches.... then cut a piece of fabric 15 inches wide, and the depth of the basket, plus 3 or 4 inches extra. Fold in half, and sew 2 seams, (the side, and the bottom). Sew a hem on the open end. Place inside the basket, with your hands, form to fit the bottom of the basket, tucking the corners UNDER the fabric in the bottom of the basket. Quick, easy, DONE!Helpful Reply

Eileen B. on Jun 19, 2015Turn the basket upside down and fit the fabric over the sides. Make some braided ribbon to match the wedding colours and put it on the edge of the basket that would hide the fabric edges.Helpful Reply

Wanda sinnema on Sep 24, 2015DJ's idea sound good. I would recommend you get a scrap of fabric, turn the basket upside down, drape the fabric over the basket, and mark it as to the diameter size, do your circle from that, adding enough to turn under the edge, sometimes they actually take more than we think to allow for the bottom. this will save you cutting several pieces just a bit to small.. they can vary depending on the shape and depth and the brim.. easy to do. once you do this quick trick.. for a perfect fit..Helpful Reply
