What is a good product for cook top cleaners? I've tried all the recommended ones and they do not work.

I use a scratchless scouring pad with my glass cook top cleaner. Sometimes you need to let the cleaner sit for a while to really penetrate cooked on stuff and then use elbow grease.

Barkeeper's Friend--the Liquid (creamy) product, not the powder. Wipe the cooktop with hot water, and while it's still wet, smear the Barkeeper's Friend around the top. Let it sit for a minute or two, then scrub with a scratchless green scrubbie. Wipe with clean, wet rags, then polish dry with a lintless cloth. I was skeptical when told about this (a creamyliquid that doesn't stink is going to clean this disgraceful cooktop? Bwahahaha!) Can't tell you how delighted I was to see it actually work! I now use it regularly.. It also works well on shower glass doors.

Bon Ami. Doesn't scratch but gets off tough spots.

I usually wipe with a VERY damp rag or a Clorox Kitchen degreaser wipe, allow to sit a couple of minutes then use a GENERIC Magic Eraser . I actually do not like the "expensive" price so I have found a generic alternative (Melamine scrubber). They do not last as long as the name brand but are GREAT for many of your household projects, keep one in each bath, great or scrubbing shoes my husband even used to scrub the hull of his boat. I purchased on Amazon.com....takes awhile to get them but there are 100 of them for $7.09 (free shipping).....http://www.amazon.com/100Pcs-CLEANER-MELAMINE-CLEANING-10x6x2CM/dp/B00EZGIU0C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1434806457&sr=8-1&keywords=MAGIC+MELAMINE+SPONGE+CLEANING+10x6x2CM

I also use Barkeepers Friend and a non-scratch scrubber. I use the dry product and it works wonderful. I have also used Bon Ami which works well also.

For years I've used a cerame cream formula slathered on burned areas followed by the Original razor scraper which works very well. However, once a burner discolors to dark in Spite of cleaning, that's usually permanent.

Universal stone a non-abrasive paste...It isn't cheap, but you only need a minute amount, so it lasts a long time.
  • Baking soda! Sprinkle a load on top, then put a really hot (as hot as you can get it without burning yourself!) towel on top and leave for 20 mins or so, then wipe off! You may need to do a couple of times depending on how bad the stains are :-)

Since scrubbing a stovetop is not my favorite activity, I try to make it as easy as possible. I, like others, use Barkeepers Friend and a scrubbing pad made for glass cooktops. If I have a particularly bad area, I use the spray Barkeepers Friend to wet the area and then sprinkle the powder to cover the dirty area. I soak a few layers of paper towels and place over the powder & let it sit overnight. The next morning I moisten the area (if necessary) and the scrub it. This usually works on tough spots without a long time scrubbing. You could probably use water in place of the spray. I just happened to have some on hand. The spray Barkeepers Friend does not do nearly as well as the powder, & I won't buy it again--just using up what I have.
