Home Maintenance & Repairs: Need help on how to repair a plastic chair

I have three of the plastic chairs from the 70's. The Texas heat has gotten to them. The slats are popping on some of them when you sit down. Any ideas on how to repair these? I have ...»
tried a plastic epoxy and it did fine at first and then would not hold, thought about jb weld? Any ideas would be great. Thanks.

I would cut a small piece of similar hard plastic for support, since weight will be applied ...»
after the repair is made, and use JB Quick (fast setting JB Weld) or epoxy to make the repair on the reverse side of the chair. Allow to dry at least 24 hours before using.

@LeeAnne ... I found zero success with Frontline also. Borax, however, works wonders. I use ...»
it beneath Rowdy's bedding outside and around his dog house. I also put some in my carpet shampooer to treat indoors.

Mary, you've tried petroleum jelly without success? It's the only thing I've found that ...»
deterred our stubborn dang Missouri ants. My hummingbird feeders have a twisted copper wire attached to a hook installed in the soffit. I tried petroleum jelly just atop the feeder but that was not enough ... finally I smeared some on the hook and around the copper wire. No more ants.

Any suggestions on getting rid of moles/voles. They are taking over our yard.

  • Less than two hours work to repurpose this old, rusty grill.

Inspired by Hometalk members ..

This is a work in progress, still awaiting wood treatment and vines painted along the legs and sides. Thank you folks for the inspiration. You rock!

Updating driveway

The state of NC is busy ripping up roads and front yards due to yet another highway expansion. The first 4 feet of our yard now belongs to the state and they are busy ripping out trees, ...»
bushes, flowers, etc.. This naturally included the entrance to our driveway. We have been busy replanting flower beds and trying to figure out what to do. While visiting an antique store, we saw some interesting ideas with posts. As our home is just a plain American Farm House, we had to think plain and simple. Hubby set wooden posts this morning in concrete. This afternoon he put the vinyl sleeves on and added the solar lights. We found the solar lights for only $25.00 each. With the lights, wooden posts, vinyl sleeves and Quik-Krete we have about $100.00 in this project and we are so happy with it.

This is a little headboard I found at our local Goodwill....I cut in half, and cut a 2x4 for a back leg...cut an apron out for the front to hide the bracing....and painted it! http://www.dejavuedesigns.com/headboard-bedh... #junkrecycling #Bestof2012 #keepingcozy #proudestdiy #SpringDecor #recycle #SummerStyle
