Lisa L on Jun 30, 2015It's definitely a clematis. Let it grow, or move it to a place where it can climb, and keep an eye on it. Even wild varieties are pretty when in bloom, but need a tight rein or they will take over. They can take full sun or partial shade. Cut back in fall or early spring before new growth .starts. Most clematis have grabby leaf stems' but some kinds need to be tied to their supportHelpful Reply

Cat1786735 on Jun 30, 2015It's easy to dig this up and replant it elsewhere, or give it to someone. Even after you dig it up, don't be surprised if you get another, or a few more pop up in the same area.Helpful Reply

Suzette Trimmer on Jul 03, 2015Just when I thought I knew so much I found my jaw on the floor after reading that this vine is in fact a clematis...well I'll be. I find this vine growing everywhere and it tangles all my other plants...or could my vine be a whole other breed of weed?Helpful Reply

Janet on Jul 04, 2015Not to sure that that is a clematis, because I have owned many kinds and none have come up in places that I didn't plant one there at one time or the other. Not sure what your plant is but looks like poison oak to me. And that as well as poison ivy will come up anywhere remember leaves of three, leave them be or just pull it up with gloves on off course.Helpful Reply
