While looking for inspiration to complete a Handmade Gift Exchange gift I found this amazing Vintage world map online! I knew exactly what I wanted to do as soon as I saw it!
Using a pallet I made a sign. Making a pallet sign is super easy! Once the boards are cut to the right size, you just hook them all together with two supports on the back just like this.
You can sand your boards smooth before you assemble, or after. I prefer to do the sanding after it's all assembled. Then paint or stain your sign! I used a dark wood stain to match the border on the printed map.
Leaving a beautifully distressed almost antique looking map! I love how it turned out!
I added a beautiful travel themed quote with cut vinyl letters to the finished sign. A quote I had seen my gift exchange partner Pin multiple times. To see more of the sign with the added quote, visit the blog link below. Thanks!

You did a great job, it looks lovely . I tend to dislike anything that shouts "Homemade". Yours art work screams Professional.

Have a question about this project?
I absolutely LOVE this!!!! I'm definitely going to try this!! Where did you download this particular from?
My daughter biscuit joined 5 planks of pine for me to do a project like this and then we stained it with a oil based stain which I guess was a big mistake. If I try to use mod podge the color from the stain is getting on the map but looks red, not brown. I've done so much research and don't know what to do next. This is a Christmas present for my hubby and I'd love some suggestions on whether or not I should seal the wood with a oil based sealer or use some other decoupage medium. Thanks for any help you have!!!!
Did you cut the edges in anyway? Or is the entire rectangle map glued down?
