General Finishes topcoats

Karlotta Stephenson Brown on Jul 01, 2015I have used the polycrylic when I am topcoating something that will see lots of use like a coffes table. It is normally used on painted floors so it will stand up to abuse. i always use three coats with a light sand in between with a 320 sanding block. just enough to give the finish some depth. It also doesn't yellow over time so the copper on the top should stay the same color. This looks great by the way.Helpful Reply

Jane on Jul 01, 2015I would recommend the Polycrylic as well. Get the high gloss & do a couple of coats, it will look amazing.Helpful Reply

JulieArt on Jul 01, 2015The Arm R Seal and gel topcoats are oil based and will amber. The amber may or may not show up on your copper color. It is a gamble. The HF high performance is a great product and will work on latex paint. https://generalfinishes.com/retail-products/water-base-top-coats-sanding-sealers/high-performance-polyurethane-topcoat#.VZQb4jY4nTYHelpful Reply

9530106 on Aug 04, 2015I said I would post a finished photo- so here she is! I ended just putting on a thin coat of Minwax paste wax on the top, since I already had it. The table won't be abused, so I think it will be ok. Thank you all again for your help and suggestions!Helpful Reply
