Balbir Currie on Jul 06, 2015It will look cosy with room divider. I have used 8 section book shelf room divider from Ikea which i have, ornaments, plant, photos etc on it. Everyone comments on it when they see it.Helpful Reply

Darla on Jul 06, 2015That's a great fireplace; I would emphasize it. If you put up a room divider, be aware that it will shorten sight lines and make the room look smaller, as well as cutting off some of the window light. We have a combination LR/DR, and "divide" it with sofa and TV on one side, sofa table behind the sofa used as a sideboard, and dining table on the other side.Helpful Reply

Kcallen2004 on Jul 06, 2015Those are some great suggestions. I want to put a tv in there as well. I just saw a picture of a sectional being placed on an angle which might be something to consider. I'll be sure to post an after pic once we get settled.Helpful Reply

Fab and Pretty on Jul 06, 2015Great idea's. I agree with the tv on a pivot to keep the artistic focus on the fireplace. I'd wait on the room divider until you get all of your furniture in. Dividers though awesome in looks can struggle with being bumped into. It's amazing how quickly a space can fill up. You could also consider a plant stand, tall plant or pillar style display cabinet against that far wall where you would put the divider to break the space.Helpful Reply

Cyndie S on Jul 07, 2015Whatever you do, don't hide that beautiful window with heavy furniture. Try a low padded bench, console table or game table with side chairs, etc. Put sofa opp wall, probly overhangs into din rm opening, so put your open divider or sofa table behind it with a lamp, plant, books. TV on pivot over fireplace to balance scale. Love seat on railing wall or reverse location w sofa. Try options as room plan on paper first.Helpful Reply

Antcp3 on Jul 07, 2015Use the sectional as the room devider. It will face the fireplace and the area you have decided to place your tv.Helpful Reply

Sunshine on Jul 08, 2015Sunshine Santa Rosa, CA It's difficult to tell exactly how the room is laid out. Is there another wall besides the fireplace wall to put the TV? If it were my room, I would lighten up the wall color, especially with dark furniture. And perhaps a dark paint accent on the fireplace wall to soften the vertical line down the middle. I will never understand why builders build things in the corners. How hard would it have been to move that fireplace over 2 feet? Anyway, I might put the sofa in front of the window with a 1 1/2 ft space between the window and the sofa. I would love to see a finished room. Please post.Helpful Reply

Susen Gail on Jul 10, 2015Just a thought: Place tv to the right of the fireplace. Then hang a double set of drapes on pull rods from floor to ceiling over the tv. Open when you are watching. Close when you aren't. If privacy isn't an issue, then just hang floor to ceiling matching single panels at the end of the beautiful windows on one foot rods. I've been using swing rods. Very cheap from Ovation. You could use those instead of the pull drapes. Much cheaper, too. I'm with everyone else. Please post finished pictures! And have fun in your new home! susenHelpful Reply

Noo1911887 on Jul 13, 2015Build a media center, with bookshelves, etc. to the right of the fireplace, then paint the fireplace and media center wall off white. On the windows put's wood blinds, same color as fireplace/media wall. One could use either a sectional or a sofa and two upholstered chairs with large cocktail table and a pretty area rug to define the seating area. Paint the other walls a color matching/coordinating/or accenting with the furniture.Helpful Reply

Kcallen2004 on Aug 04, 2015This couch was supposed to go in a different room but I think it turned out quite nice. Trying to decide whether or not to mount the tv on the wall or get a different stand. Still considering a 3 panel divider. I am going to buy a nice wooden starburst decoration for above the mantel and will hang that picture on the wall.Helpful Reply
