Which chair should I go with in my newly redone master bedroom?
Plus hubby put in new batton board...soooooooooooo my question is should I go with the grey chair to the left or change the pattern on the chair to the right adding a deep grey linen to it (see second picture). EVENTUALLY I want to get rid of the carpet and add hardwood that matches the rest of the downstairs....sorry some of the photos aren't that clear...bad lighting .....thanks

Ana Bacallao on Jul 07, 2015I like the gray chair in its simplicity much better for your new room. By the way why don't you get some metallic pewter paint that you could use in the mirror and wipe off so that the gold shows through too..Helpful Reply

Johnathan Bing on Jul 07, 2015maybe reupholster the the second chair with a textured or lightly patterned similar shade of gray as the other, then trim the pillows with the same fabric to "marry" the look cohesive.Helpful Reply

Trixie63 on Jul 08, 2015Dang girl you have a giant bedroom. It looks wonderful I love that BM grey. It is so great everywhere. I think grey chair not so much because of color but scale. You don't want a roller coaster room.Helpful Reply

C-lo on Jul 08, 2015I don't think you could go wrong with either one. To me, the chair on the right seems to have more in common with your decor than the grey chair. Maybe pop up the color and reupholster it? If that's too much work, you can either paint the grey chair, change the pillow, or have it reupholstered (again, more work.) The easiest thing to do would be to get a new pillow for the grey chair. That would change everything. Good luck, you have a beautiful bedroom!!!Helpful Reply

Rose on Jul 08, 2015I prefer the left chair definately because of the style. The chair on the right doesn't have the clean lines like the rest of the room/furniture. D probably find another room to use it. I'd probably paint it a light color.Helpful Reply

Diane on Jul 08, 2015I like the chair on the right also...I think you have enough leather pieces in the room and need to add some softness...I would cover the chair in a fabric that brings out the blue in the spread..maybe a stripe or one that would complement the spread...you might want to buy some swatches from fabric store and see what looks best first before deciding..good luck...I really like your new wall color.Helpful Reply

Lizzy L on Jul 08, 2015I would keep both chairs and the table, but with new upholstery. I would pull the blue color from the bedspread for the chair on the right. The chair on the left could be ok with just a colorful pillow on top. If it's just one chair or the other, the scale will be off. I would also replace the couch that's at the end of the bed with a beautiful upholstered bench. Possibly one with clear legs to give the room some airiness. Good job!Helpful Reply

Centrd on Jul 08, 2015Either one could work but since your lamps and leather chair are more contemporary, choosing the contemporary chair (on the left) would give the room a more updated traditional feel. The only problem I have with it is it looks slightly too small where it is. But the contemporary lines of the chair do create some balance with the more traditional bedroom furniture. On the other hand, I like the size and visual interest that's created with the open detail of the chair on the right. So if you prefer a more straight forward traditional look, then the chair on the right has a stronger traditional feel and the scale seems better. Really depends on what you like. If you're going for a more contemporary or casual feel, which it seems with the new bedding, board-and-batten and lamps, then you could change out the hardware on your furniture to give it a more updated traditional look, too. People are mixing metals these days, not sure about the gold of the mirror being so close to the silver lamps. But it can't hurt to try it out and see what you think. Or you could always buy some "Rub N Buff" and add some silver to the mirror to give it that antiquey silvery/gold feel that might work better with the lamps. Beautiful room, btw.Helpful Reply

Terry on Jul 08, 2015Regina I like the chair on the left but with a patterned pillow on it. Maybe that one that is on your bed or pick up a small patterned pillow with that lovely green from your coverlet on the bed. That is my favorite colour and it is all through my house.Helpful Reply

Susan Patterson Mayes on Jul 08, 2015Not answering in order of questions but it is perfectly fine to mix metals, I might even add a third metal in a decorative object ( rule of three) the chair on the right appears to be better in scale with bed, etc, so I would reuphoster the seat with a color fabric that coordinates with bedding ensemble to give a pop of color and add interest. Then maybe do coordinating throw pillows for other chairs n sofa. Also if you don't use all that seating I would edit some out of the room to give the room a more spacious quality.Helpful Reply

Terry on Jul 21, 2015Oh Regina, when you said not sure of mixing silver and gold so you could add the mirror. All designers are doing that now. I think it would look nice. Things don't have to be matchy anymore. Your room looks beautiful.Helpful Reply

Debi53 on Jul 21, 2015You have done a lovely redo of your room. It looks like you have room for both chairs. Why not instead of covering them in grey, paint the wooden parts of both in a beautiful shade of grey and cover the fabric areas on both chairs in a green & white trellis fabric to go with the floral pattern in your comforter? Definitely use your gold mirror if you love it. Just add a few more touches of gold around your room to tie it in--a gold vase, dish, bookends, picture frame, or even spray your flowerpot gold or add a gold edge to it. I don't mean do all these things in gold, just a few.Helpful Reply
