I am wondering if I can use old barn board over Formica on a bathroom

Workerbee on Jul 08, 2015I am assuming it is a counter top? You could cover the Formica with it but keep in mind you will have to raise your sink and faucets depending on the style. Most Formica is glued to a type of pressed board that would hold screws if that is how you wanted to fasten it in place, glue might be another option. I do think it would be every hard to keep clean if your bathroom is like mine.Helpful Reply

Funnygirl on Jul 08, 2015They make this rubber flooring that looks like wood.you can cut it with a utility knife and it has a sticky side on the bottom. They are about 6"wide and 3 ft long.Do you need to fit it around a sink and faucet?this can be done also, but more work, disconnecting the faucet, and lifting up the sink, you may need some help with experience if this is what you plan to do.This imitation "wood"looks really cool and would work really well on top of Formica. Will try to send you some pictures. Each strip costs about one dollar each. Its a really good fake!Helpful Reply

Funnygirl on Jul 09, 2015Check out this post.ourcloverhouse.blogspot.com.they used it on the floor.looks amazing. I brought home a piece to see if it really looks as good in my house. Looks like real wood to me.i am planning to "frame" a bathroom mirror with it soon.plus,it already has the sticky adhesive so it is super easy to work with.this is really peel and stick!cuts with scissors!Helpful Reply

Christine Mooney on Jul 09, 2015Yes, you can. I saw this done and they made the barn wood run down the side of the vanity also (I think they called it "waterfall" effect. So it was along the top and down the side with a small ledge on front if you have a couple inches of formica on the front. Then you just have to put a godd coat of protective finish on it so the water doesn't leak through.Helpful Reply
