Rather Than Replace My Deck I Salvaged It for $50.00!

My front porch/deck has sentimental meaning to me ~ I know that may seem silly but it's one of the last things my Father built for me before he passed away. The deck was in sad shape but rather than replace it I decided to salvage it and get a few more years out of it and it only cost $50.00.

This was the first before ~ I unfortunately, because of user error, I had to redo the deck because the Behr DeckOver I used the first time did not hold up as I had hoped it would ~ again, and please let me stress this ~ it was my fault. I was in a rush and didn't prep the wood properly the first time.

The first time around I also made a huge mistake with my choice of color ~ I chose a lighter color and it just didn't work for me. It showed every single shoe print and speck of dirt ~ it always looked a mess and drove me bonkers!

After giving it much thought and being totally displeased I stripped the deck down and took a few other steps. You can find all the details in this post here and see how I started the redo process ~ AGAIN!

The after is above and this time I couldn't be more pleased! It truly looks like a new deck and for such a small investment I've bought myself a few more year's time with my memory deck.

Here it is all decorated for summer!
