Is white primer paint the same as waterborne for stair risers?

B. Enne on Jul 13, 2015To which Waterborne are you referring? There are different kinds. I would only prime stairs with a high or super adhesion primer. There are many good brands BM. S-W, Zinsser etc. IMO and experience, oil is more durable long term. We have this one in Canada which washes up easily. http://www.dulux.ca/DIY/products/specialty-primers/Dulux-X-pert-Waterborne-Alkyd-Interior-Primer?lang=en-CA it is made by PPG, so I'm sure you have it under a different label.Helpful Reply

Sherri Taylor on Jul 13, 2015If you want, you can prime with an oil based primer and paint with an acrylic or latex paint. You can also use a latex primer. My favorite is BIN123. It's a good all-purpose interior primer.Helpful Reply
