Polly Zieper on Jul 13, 2015Have you tried the clorox penpen?, afraid of what it would do to the colored areas.I sprayed the white areas with water, went over the 'leaked' color that I wanted to remove, themn just laid the garment flat in the sun so the bleachy part wouldn't touch the colored part. bleach pen?I had the same situation and didn't want to put bleach intoHelpful Reply

Roberta Stewart-Fite on Jul 14, 2015It all depends on if the item was dried or not in what you can do. Alcohol will not damage the fibers... BUT... before you put anything at all on the color bleed, I personally would take it to my local dry cleaners. Having worked at one, they have better luck at removing with some sort a solvent. Some things we do at home can actually set the bleed into the fabric. Good Luck!Helpful Reply

Em Hooper on Jul 14, 2015Wet the cloth. Put on a Denture cleaning tablet. Let it bubble bubble toil and trouble. Don't let it dry out before you rinse it off. You might have some green/blue smudges. Scrub them out with cold water. Works on my stains. Hope it does for you.Helpful Reply

Tina on Jul 14, 2015Soda Ash might help. I just learned about Soda Ash for tie dying, but it is used for laundry. Found in the laundry aisle at the supermarket.Helpful Reply

Mimi on Jul 14, 2015Don't have a solution for this but a prevention method for future disasters. Pick up a box of Color Catcher brand washer sheets. A bit pricey but I use at least one in every load. It absorbs free floating dye and has saved my rear more than once. Sometimes hard to find (WalMart and Kroger usually have them stocked next to the laundry bleach).Helpful Reply

Lucy on Jul 14, 2015I've used Rit Dye Remover for these kinds of color accidents. You could put the rug on a sheet of plastics, put on rubber gloves, mix up the dye remover, and carefully apply with a rag. Then wash. You may have to do it more than once.Helpful Reply

Linda Pandolfi Hendershot on Jul 14, 2015Blot on (do NOT rub into the fibers) this solution: 1 part Dawn [blue] dishwashing liquid, 1 part peroxide, 1 part white vinegar. Let set overnight and then throw it in the washer. Voila!Helpful Reply
