Ever wonder what 20,000 pieces of Lego would look like? Ever wonder what they would look like as a kitchen island?

Well, there you go. That's right - an actual kitchen island made of plastic Lego blocks.

No, this isn't computer animated. Designed and created by Simon Pillard and Philippe Rossetti, this playful piece was inspired by another piece of Lego decor, a Lego-legged chair. (Find out more about this kitchen on dwell.)

While that might seem silly, Lego home decor is a lot more popular than you might think! The blocks are easy to build with, come in a variety of colors, and can be glued or cemented into place after they're assembled.

Toy tinkering designers aren't afraid to go big with their Lego creations. In fact, if you thought that island was a big deal, check out this ambitious plastic brick building feat:

The LEGOflat, an apartment dreamt up by I-Beam Design, has an entire staircase and wall built from white, blue, yellow, and red Lego blocks. Can you imagine a better way of catching your guests attention?

But Lego decorating isn't only for those crazy cool designers (after all, your basic Lego set is appropriate for ages 4+). If you've got your own box of blocks buried somewhere, and your kids have outgrown it, here's a decor idea that's a little more user friendly: Lego utensil holders.
