What is the best paint for linoleum on the bathroom floor.
-
Connie Phillips on Jul 23, 2015I painted my bathroom floor with the same paint I used on the walls because after I did the walls the linoleum on the floor looked so ugly. I then decided to experiment with painting faux tiles as a temporary fix until I could install a new floor. I used masking tape to make random angular shapes then used a sponge to dab on various shades of grey and taupe acrylic paint to make it look like stone. Since it was supposed to be a temporary fix I didn't seal it or anything but to my surprise it has held up better than I could have anticipated. I have scrubbed and cleaned it and it's been over a year and it still looks great. In the meantime, I decided to collect smooth beach stones which I plan to silicone onto the linoleum and then grout. it's on my list of things to do. In the meantime, I am surprised at the compliments I have had on my painted floor! Go for it!Helpful Reply

Margaret E on Jul 23, 2015Audrey, when I painted the bathroom floor in my sister's old farmhouse (see my post Farmhouse Bathroom Floor), I was painting wood, not linoleum. We used Sherwin Williams Porch and Floor enamel, in a diamond pattern, and it held up really well. You might ask what the clerks at whatever paint stores are near you (Home Depot, Lowes, Sherwin Williams, etc.) recommend, or go read the labels on the cans if you have the time. I read another Hometalker's post just this week, about repainting a linoleum floor - check out the browse feature here - I'm sure there are others who've done it. Good luck! (and post your project so we all can congratulate you!)Helpful Reply
