Hawaiian Beach Glass Party Lanterns
by

Make these lovely beach glass lanterns using recycled jars that you were just going to throw away. The jars cost nothing, I used a bag of sand from Freecycle, raffia that I already had and shells from a friend, so my only cost was the paint and tea lights.
Collect glass jars (and ask friends and family to collect jars for you, too). Look for different sizes and jars with interesting patterns in the glass.
Remove labels, wash and dry well.
Paint the jars with beach glass paint. I used two similar but slightly different shades of beach glass paint for a more organic variation in the paint colors on all the different jars.
Decorate with raffia and shells.
Add sand and a battery operated tea light for a lovely party centerpiece or outdoor decorations.
