I don't know about apps, but posting a question with a picture on this site has never failed me yet!

As a master gardener, I was anxious to find an app that would help identification of plants. One I found, which is free, is LikeThatGarden .. It has identified or help identify 10 plants so far. Hey, it's free and does work. Now I would like to find an app for weeds in Western New York.. I have not been able to find a weed identifying app yet.

I agree that this site has proven to be wonderful. But sometimes I am out and don't have my computer with me and needing to find out faster.

I have found an "app" for my I-Phone called Garden Compass" it is great. All I do is take a photo of anything that is growing plants weeds trees anything and once you send photo to their date base and if not immediately they will send you the identification along with growing conditions soil and sun requirements all in the palm of your hand. And the app is FREE! Hope I have been of some help. Good luck now.

Check out Mother Earth News.com. They also have a Facebook page. Other wise, for ID'ing plants etc, the extension service should be able to help, either local or at a university.
