How to clean water dispenser tray to remove mineral deposits on tray

Poshe P on Jul 30, 2015Vinegar, vinegar, vinegar ~ the cheapest white vinegar you can find, either pour into tray if there's enough of a lip, to just cover and leave for ½ hour, then rinse off thoroughly. If there's no lip. soak a cloth in vinegar and lay it on the tray for ½ hour or longer if needed, then rinse well.Helpful Reply

Cindy on Jul 30, 2015I agree with everyone else, vinegar! I had the same problem, years of mineral buildup. I tried everything and nothing worked until I tried vinegar. I soaked paper towels and just let them sit in the tray overnight. There were some stubborn spots that needed some extra soaking time but, it worked. I even wrapped the paper towel around the tube, the water comes out, and it even removed the buildup from that.Helpful Reply

Darlene on Jul 30, 2015Kaboom. Purchase at Walmart or your local grocer. Spray and leave overnight. Wash and rinse before re installing. Also works to get the krud off the tube that water and ice come through. Vinegar works well also.Helpful Reply

Duv310660 on Jul 30, 2015Vinegar is the answer - our well-water is so hard, I must soak pet bowls daily. That Said... Some plastic trays have a lot more surface tooth to grab on to. Try replacing used ones with something approximating silicon or similar. And take heart: if it's on the tray, it's not in your drink!!Helpful Reply

Tina on Jul 30, 2015I live in Bullhead City, AZ. Our water is so hard, we have to put vinegar in our dishwasher for every load. I even put it in the clothes washer. For hard water crust, vinegar is the way to go.Helpful Reply
