Lyn Marino on Jul 31, 2015Do you mean Crepe Myrtle. The bush that grows to about 10 ft. tall and then is cut back in the fall? In the fall cut back about 50%, then prepare new plot and dig up as much root as possible and transplant. Do NOT use fertilizer. Just water frequently.Helpful Reply

Janet Pizaro on Jul 31, 2015Just a thought since someone responded how to transplant the crepe myrtle they also did not mention when it should be transplanted. What a concept. If you transplant this now it will go into shock. It is better to transplant when the weather is a little cooler. Make sure you give the plant enough time to adjust before winter sets in.Helpful Reply

Buster Evans on Aug 01, 2015I try to do any transplanting in mid to late october... the temperature is starting to cool and there isn't the blaring daytime heat to drain the energy out of the plant... keep it watered for the first 2 weeks then taper off and water as needed (depending on the amount of rainfall you get)... a rule of thumb I was told is " everything grows above ground in the spring and summer, and below ground in the fall and winter" (meaning the root system) if you transplant in the fall it can start putting out new roots , and getting ready through fall and winter to face the spring growth, and summer heat..Helpful Reply
