Water damaged wood floor boards

Gretchen Mercer on Aug 03, 2015Not really an answer, but...almost every house I've been in with hardwood floors in the kitchen has some "character" marks near the sink. In these old homes people didn't replace. I do hope you find the answer you are searching for, but if not, your floor will be in good company.Helpful Reply

Pete Sakes on Aug 03, 2015I have no clue but I was wondering if you can use wood putty then just stain to match? Maybe someone that knows more than me can let you know if that's an option. But I tend to agree with Gretchen.Helpful Reply

LD on Aug 03, 2015It appears that you have laminate flooring and not real hardwood. Below is a link explaining how to do the repair. http://www.doityourself.com/stry/laminate-floor-water-damage-repair-guide#bHelpful Reply

Ethel Edwards on Aug 03, 2015Good luck. The hardwood floors in my house we found under the carpet and the refinisher of the floors said I should never use water on them. They are at least in the bed rooms but I'm afraid to really clean them. Good Luck hope you find your answer.Helpful Reply

Ashley Freeman on Aug 03, 2015An old carpenters trick, take some wood out of a place that it doesn't show for repairs such as a closet. Then you can replace the closet with either the bad wood you took out of the kitchen or buy a small bit of new and stain it to match. That way your kitchen wood will all match and nobody will notice it in the closet.Helpful Reply

Dianne on Aug 08, 2015I had to use some home help after several surgeries on my shoulders and hands, unfortunately the cleaners slapped the wet string mop soaked in floor cleaner and very hot water onto my laminate floors and left them very wet. I quickly tried to dry them using my feet with some towels to soak up the water and it didn't take long for the joins to lift. This discussion was very timely as I am currently having hardwood Jarrah floors laid. I thought my steam mop would be useful OMG!! thanks everyone for your input before I ruined my new floor.Helpful Reply

Vicky on Aug 12, 2015Wish I could help you out but I have a worse problem. My brother told me he would save me money by installing my new dishwasher for me. He never hooked up one of the connections and the brand new floor I had just had installed got destroyed - at least about 1/3 of it anyhow. And not just the floor but the sub-floor too. Now I live with an area rug over it all until I can afford to redo it again since he refuses to take any responsibility for what he did.Helpful Reply
