How can I brighten these spice red cabinets
-
Kari Sioux Tewksbury on Aug 05, 2015Perhaps a design painted in the cream to the red cabinets, be it a wood add or stencil. The same to the top in red. Maybe? Just a thought.Helpful Reply

Carol on Aug 05, 2015I see your cupboards don't use knobs. I am wondering though, if some lovely knobs on both the upper and lower cabinets might give just a wee decorative touch? There are some magnificent choices on ebay and pinterest, for instance. I love the spice red.Helpful Reply

Lisa House on Aug 05, 2015Whitewash over the red or a glaze treatment to the red. Use black hardware on all cabinets. You can searc Hometalk for each treatment for the cabinet or "Google" them. Good luck!Helpful Reply

Hope Williams on Aug 06, 2015I am doing my kitchen in yellow and red. I think that your countertops are what is causing the issue for you. Your red is not deep enough to hold its own against the strong black. If it were me: I would get several samples of different reds. Take and paint the top portion of each door and look at it for a week. You can give the a higher gloss by using a polycrylic in satin, semigloss or high gloss. I use the matte poly and wax on top of that. This home is in S.W. Georgia and the humidity prevents me from using just wax. Which you should not in a kitchen anyway. You should definitely use a liquid sealer.Helpful Reply

Robin on Aug 06, 2015I notice there are no knobs or pulls on the cabinets or drawers. Perhaps you can put white or silver knobs/pulls on the bottom cabinets.Helpful Reply

Sooz on Aug 12, 2015periwinkle colored stenclis. The red is gorgeous, just do a minimal stencli at the corners or around where your knobs would go. do a little at a time, step back a day or two. Add more as you wish.Helpful Reply
