Chair Planter

I recently found this old chair sitting by the curb in my neighborhood. Well, of course I had to stop and pick it up because the first thing that came to my mind was turning this chair into a planter... but then I thought I had seen so many of them, I began to think of other ways I could use it.
I thought about painting it and placing a nice fluffy pillow on it and hanging cat toys underneath for my cat. But her favorite spot in the house is right beside the heat/AC register and she prefers playing with other things besides cat toys...curtains, bugs, socks, etc., I wasn't sure she'd use it much.
This was a quick and easy project, but my spray paint can was clogged and I had a lot of rough, raised spots after I painted. Lesson learned on my part to rinse out the top after the paint sits from a previous project (oops). I did sand some of them down, which added more time than I thought to the project, but didn't really stress it since it's an outdoor piece that will get dirt and water on it. I just wanted a pretty color and a piece that would function as a plant stand!

Rita Fabro on Aug 10, 2015Very pretty! How did you attach the metal plant holder to the seat so it doesn't fall out?
