Something fun, your idea of fun! It is in the living room...situated (sitting on) between a raised hearth, and a light mahogany duncan phyfe china cabinet. The fireplace is red brick, so color is fine...but how to conceal it is the question. I have been considering some basket type item...a small, but light table that has a space for it near the bottom of the legs...but still need to conceal it. Colors that are present are aquamarine blue, seafoam, and other natural shades of yellow / orange, beige, light mahogany wood, some teak...cannot be too heavy for sitting on the hearth...

You could put it inside a lidded basket/picnic. As for where it's sitting, I'm not sure if being so close to a heat source is a good idea.

It would help to see a pic of the room, so we have some idea of your style. Makes a difference in what we might suggest. A basket in a country style room, a ceramic box in annasian one, fake flowers on top of a bucket in rustic, etc.

I don't have a suggestion yet, but I could use a solution, also.

It's important you don't cut off air flow around the modem. It would overheat and short-circuit, possibly ignite. I have mine on top of an antique roll top desk. It sits inside a black mesh box turned upside down. (Think office supplies) Since framed photos and flowers surround it and a small sculpture sits on top of it, no one has ever noticed the modem. (It is also black.) I disguised the lights on the modem with a small piece of black electrical tape that just covers the end where the lights are. Last Christmas it spent a month under the Christmas tree. With the flashing lights on the tree, no one saw the lights on the modem.

I took a large hard cover book and pulled out the pages leaving the cover with binding and there I plenty of room for air to move - modem does not over heat
