Deck topcoat?

Molly Ferguson
by Molly Ferguson
I recently stained our deck a beautiful deep brown, which looks great when wet but dirty and dingy otherwise (see photos). Does anyone know of a sealer or topcoat I could use that may keep that nice shine?
Beautiful just rained look
How it looks most of the time 😕

It appears that you may just need a second coat. If you want a shiny look check with your local paint store or HoDe/L's paint department clerks. Though I did find a product online, I have no idea how well it works. I didn't read enough to know if this is a top coat or is to go on raw wood. http://www.feastwatson.com.au/specifier/products/exterior/product-details/1566

I wanted the same "shiny" look wet or dry on our front porch. Used an oil-based FAST DRYING for outdoor wood surfaces, CLEAR and GLOSS. Varathane Spar Urethane. It can be purchased at Home Depot or Lowes I know. I didn't check any hardware stores. Our stained front porch looks beautiful!

Thanks Nancey! I will definitely look at getting this product.
