Create An Awesome Book Of School Memories With Your Child Every Year!

I came up with this idea for an Awesome Book Of School Memories With Your Child based on what I did with my students every year when I worked as an elementary school teacher. The students and I loved this idea so much that I modified it a bit so parents can easily create their own at home with their child!
At the end of the first day of school I had my students take time to record three awesome highlights were for them on that day. We then revisited our awesome school memory books at the end of each month and finally at the end of the year following the same writing pattern. I also encouraged the students to add their own drawings and decorations representing what they wrote about. Their memory book became both a journal and an illustrated book chronicling their learning and experiences that year.

I loved it as a teacher because I could track what my students enjoyed the most as well as how their writing and illustrating skills were progressing!

To make things very easy for you I have designed and created printables in PDF format that you can find to download and print on the original blog post.
The first printable is the title page that can be slipped into the front of a 3-ring binder.
The next printable with instructions included is designed to complete the first day of school. You will need one copy.
The next printable with instructions is designed to complete at the end of each month. You will need one copy for each month of the school year.
The last printable with instructions is designed to be completed on the last day of school. You will need one copy.
I recommend putting the binder together ahead of time so it is prepared for the entire year. You can also slip the pages into plastic sheet protectors.

If your child is quite young or is a reluctant writer you may have to be the scribe until their writing skills become more developed. But I do recommend this Awesome Book Of School Memories be created together! It is a lot of fun to remember and talk about the fun activities and what was studied and learned.
